  • This Is Me. I have that song stuck in my head, and I don’t mind one bit. .
(I don’t mind one bit YET. I will start to mind somewhere around hour sixteen of it looping around in there, but for now I’m good.)
.
Because there is me, and there is you, and this world needs all of us to show up as our real, whole selves. We need you, we want you, exactly as you are.
.
Your real self—not the person you think you’re supposed to be, but the person you really ARE—THAT is exactly the person we need in the world.
.
This is you. This is me.
.
That is all. Carry on.
  • Things you might need right now: a glass of water. A nap. A hug. A quiet room. A sandwich. Fresh air. Sun on your face. Deep conversation. No conversation. To be surrounded by people. To be alone.
.
(You’re actually the only one who knows what you need, next and now and forever.)
.
You get to need what you need. I need a cup of chai and to read Crazy Rich Asians again. It’s allowed.
.
But sweets, listen for what you need, okay? You need SOMETHING, even if it’s just, like, lunch. When we don’t listen, we get all weird and cranky and lonely. Let’s have none of that. Need what you need. No apologies necessary.
  • How I know it’s time for tea: .
1. I’m awake.
.
2. There is no 2.
  • Today maybe be awesome, today may be terrible, but either way: there will be pumpkins. That’s what I’ve got.
  • Secret of life for today: sometimes things don’t work.
.
Sometimes even really good ideas... don’t work. Sometimes really good ideas turn out to be really terrible ideas, when you say them out loud or try them in real life. AND THAT’S OKAY.
.
Yes, I hate finding out I was wrong. Yes I do. No, I do not appreciate when things don’t work out.
.
And yet. And yet. We’re going to try stuff anyway, right, loves?
.
Because you can actually be wrong and not die! Things can flop, and you will survive. Who knew?
.
And anyway, the only way to never be wrong is to never be... ANYTHING. Never say anything, never do anything, never have an opinion or take a risk or try anything at all. .
But trying new things, speaking up, saying what you need to say and doing what you need to do—this is how the world moves forward.
.
So... you might be wrong. It might not work. Still worth trying.
.
If you’re wrong, you learn. If it falls apart, you build something new. Learn, and grow, and change—and then TRY AGAIN. It’s all okay.
  • Just for the record, in case you’d forgotten: no one else knows what they’re doing either, not really.
.
We’re all stumbling around out here, listening for the next right thing and taking just one little step at a time in that direction.
.
We’re holding hands in the dark, we’re pretending to have a flashlight around here somewhere. You’re not the only one. We’re never the only ones. xo.
