Sometimes you ask yourself: Okay, what’s next?
And the answer is: Now we wait.
Change is coming, change is coming! Now… hold up and wait for it.
Sometimes the change itself is not so difficult.
You can look at the new thing, and be excited about it. You can look at the old thing, and be grateful for it but willing to move on.
But the in-between, the knowing-change-is-coming-but-it’s-not-here-yet? Sometimes that is the hardest part.
If that is where you find yourself:
May you relish the practice of abiding in that space, this week.
May you sit in stillness in the waiting. May you practice being at peace with the not-knowing. May you wait in confidence for more to be revealed, or for the time to come, or for the next step.
If you can’t quite manage stillness and peace and confidence, remember that what we practice is who we become — so just practice.
Take one little baby step toward the attitude you want to have.
Think about the presence you want to bring to this situation, and then turn yourself in that direction. Practice doing what you wish came naturally. In time, maybe it will.
Meanwhile, may you stay open to whatever changes do come your way, big or small. May you be flexible. May you have vision for possibilitiy.
Try not to distract yourself with activities, busyness, screens, chatter. Just sit. Be still.
Abide in the in-between, the now-but-not-yet.
One deep breath’s worth of practice at a time.
