I know: time moves too fast,
Except when it moves too slowly.
I know: five is so many
Until they’re all snuggled into bed
Or playing backyard soccer, all together
Or listening while a story’s read.
Really, it’s a very manageable number.
I know: quiet soothes and rejuvenates…
Unless we need to get outside
Hollering, leaping, running wild; outside voices!
I know: I don’t know much.
I know: every coin. two sides.
Heads or tails. My call? Again?

Wow, beautiful poem this week, Melissa! It is a great tribute to your children. I’m sure 5 children are quite manageable when they are yours, but then I know they are still exhausting from time to time. We could all use more sleep after all.
BTW, I’m excited about this giveaway. I hope I win!!
Love the five in a bed. Granddaughter Brittany loves to “snuglee up” in bed with stuffed animals for a good story.
Yes, to all of it. We may know a lot, but we don’t know enough. Beautifully written!

You’re so right; all you can do is cross the bridge, flip the coin, and choose what’s best for your five and you in that moment.
Beautifully written, as always. And congrats again on posting every day in November!
This is beautiful….Love the spirit of always asking, learning and growing that comes through your words.
I like the ‘quiet soothes and rejuvenates’. True for me, not so much for my kids when the power goes out!
Perfect six words for a perfect picture. Your six word Fridays have managed to make me appreciate the people in my life. It just seems to have taken that direction. Great idea
Sweet poem.
Love your post. Our daughter (an only child) has six, still manageable, to my surprise.
Six words is fun, I like the way you pulled your story together in neat little packages.
“It’s a very manageable number.”
I like that. I suppose that when we give them, these children, our full attention (FULL, UNDIVIDED, NOT DISTRACTED BY THOUGHTS OR NEEDS OR MUSTS OR OR OR) manageable is success at its very best.
